Corrida 16th August 2025
Pepe Moral, Molina and the alternativa of Pablo Páez with some quite disappointing toros from Murteira Grave. Pepe Moral cut an ear from his first and Molina cut an ear from each of his opponents. Pablo Páez had very little to work with on his first and even less with his second. Hopefully, he'll have more luck in the future.

The first Corrida of the Feria and David Galván, Borja Jiménez and Victor Hernández faced bulls from Juan Manuel Criado. David Galván was incredibly brave considering how badly he had been injured the week before in Peru. His use of the sword denied him the triumph that he so richly deserved. Borja Jiménez had difficult bulls but produced much from them. He would also have been rewarded but for the sword. Victor Hernández was excellent. His first toro was very tricky but he cut a well earned ear from his second.

Ignacio Candelas, Julio Méndez and, last years winner of the sin-pics, Santiago López Ortega faced a tricky set of Novillos. Julio cut a well deserved ear from his first opponent. Santiago also cut an ear from his first Novillo on his debut with horses.
All three novilleros showed great promise but, sadly, the toros were a little bit too complicated for them.

Novillada 14th August 2025

XVIII Certamen Internacional de Escuelas Taurinas Gran Final
This years final featured Manolo Martínez from Malaga, Manuel Domínguez from Seville and Ignacio Garibay, an 18 year old Mexican currently living in Madrid.
Sadly, Dominguez was injured by his first bull so the afternoon became a mano a mano between Martínez and Garibay.
Both toreros were magnificent and it was a wonderful final.
The young Mexican was triunfador on the day but both toreros exited the plaza "en hombres" surrounded by an adoring public. Two great toreros with a bright future ahead of them!!! Suerte!!!

XVIII Certamen Internacional de Escuelas Taurinas 12th August Colour Collection.2025
The third day of the novilladas sin picadores featured Vicente Sánchez, Joaquín Manzur, Alejandro González, Daniel Artazos and Antonio Arias. Sadly, Daniel Artazos was seriously hurt attempting his first quite and was taken to hospital with a crushed C5 vertebra. He is recovering but it will take some time. Vicente Sánchez cut an ear from the 1st and 5th toros of the afternoon and Antonio Arias from Malaga also cut an ear.

Both Ignacio and Manuel went on to the final and deservedly so. It was the first time I had seen Ignacio Garibay and I was extremely impressed. He is a great torero and had a very bright future. For the first time in Malaga, the newest members of the bullfighting school were given the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of a young vaca brava and an audience. Suerte para todos!!!

After all of his trials and tribulations, Fortes finally got the recognition that he has worked so hard for. He is a legend in Malaga and rightly so. Enhorabuena Maestro !!!

Picassiana 2025
The Picassiana on Easter Saturday was cold and windy. The conditions were dangerous and so were the Álvaro Núñez toros but Fortes, Juan Ortega and Roca Rey gave us afternoon to remember.
Drama
Bullfighting is incredibly dangerous and these remarkable men risk thier lives in pursuit of their art every time they set foot on the sand. Fortunately, none of these toreros were badly hurt and were back fighting bulls again shortly after these photographs were taken.

Manuel Martínez 23rd August 2024
Manuel Martínez is one of the new stars from the Malaga school of bullfighting. He was magnificent in 2024 and only some bad luck with the sword prevented a major triumph. He will be performing on 10th August 2025 and I will most certainly be there to document it. Mucha suerte Manolo.

The escuelas are where all the new bullfighting talent comes from. The novilladas sin picadores or "Sin-Pics" are one of the highlights of the Feria as you might just be able to see the next superstar of La Corrida at the very beginning of his journey.

The 2022 competition was won by Fuentes Bocanegra. He has struggled to get contracts and has only appeared 7 times since these photos were taken.
XVI Certamen Internacional de Escuelas Taurinas 2023
15 young toreros fighting for a place on the 2024 cartel!!! The competition was won by the Valencian Simón Andreu.
It has been my life-long ambition to document that most Spanish of things ... La Corrida.
I hope that I have managed to capture the power, the danger, the beauty and the glory of the bullfight with these exclusive photographs.
